So I decided to write just to record my thoughts as I'm doing this weight loss thing. Not sure if I'll ever have anyone actually read them, but it's worth it to get the thoughts out of my head.
I decided to go back on JC when I realized how unhappy I was with my weight. I had really just let myself eat whatever I wanted to and I didn't really care about exercising. There were too many other things that I could focus on that didn't require me to take an honest look at myself in the mirror. So two years ago when I started JC in Como, I was smart enough to get the Platinum membership, meaning lifetime membership. Whenever I want, I can go back to JC and start up for no initial fees. So I called up the office on 72nd and scheduled an appointment.
My first appointment was good. My weigh-in was at least 1.2 pounds lighter than I was when I started 2 years ago in Como. (I actually lost 29 pounds back then, and then put it back on - well all but 1.2 of it!). My consultant seems nice enough. Very busy so not a lot of time for touchy-feely stuff, which might turn out to be a good thing. I want encouragement, not the too-involved cheerleader.
I was a good girl and exercised 4 times in the first week. I'm swimming at the Y and taking water aerobics classes 1 or 2 times a week. It's fun to work out with the old ladies. I do feel like I'm burning calories, so that's a plus. It's a good way for me to work on getting back into shape for now.
My first week's weigh-in was great. 5.2 pounds lighter! Hooray! A great start. I knew the first week there is always a big loss because of the change your body goes through with eating fewer calories and exercising.
The second week went fine. I only got to exercise once that week. but I did some major cleaning on Saturday, so I'm counting that for some lost calories. We had friends over on Saturday night, so I didn't eat JC food, but Jonathan cooked a tasty seafood soup and I had a small bowl of that with some bread. Claire brought over a VERY good fruit tart...that I had for dessert on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and dessert AGAIN on Sunday. Whoops! Hey, there was fruit involved, that's OK right?
The second week's weigh-in was also positive. 3 less pounds on me! As my mom said, this really seems to work for me. I'm good at reading menus and staying on them! We had dinner out last night, but I was good and had a salad and proscuitto wrapped asparagus. I'm home sick today so I probably won't get to work out. There's always tomorrow!
I'll be excited when I break the 10 pound mark. But hey, 8.2 pounds in two weeks, that's not so bad!
(If this was a JC blog, there would be an * after every number that I lost saying "results not typical", but it's not, so there's no need for an *!)
